"American Idol" news roundup for Monday, April 27
Posted by Bob Payne
Apparently rock guitarist Slash of Guns N Roses fame has been approached about being an "American Idol" mentor for a rock theme week. Reports have surfaced that Slash let the news slip via Twitter.
The speculation is that this would happen next week, thought there's been no official confirmation.
Let's hope it results in some more contemporary and lively songs being performed. Look for Allison Iraheta and Adam Lambert to make the most of this opportunity, assuming they're still around next week.
• Here's today's completely obscure "Idol" trivia item: Judge Kara DioGuardi and legendary TV host Regis Philbin are first cousins. Bet you're glad you know that!
• This season's Top 5 made an appearance at BritWeek festivities in Los Angeles over the weekend, where they did what the Top 5 does best: pose for pictures.
• Simon Cowell has predicted this past weekend that Adam Lambert and Danny Gokey will make this year's finale.
