Idol Confessions
It's corny, it's predictable, it's often ear-piercing, but many of us can't get enough of it. Yup, it's "American Idol."

"American Idol" news roundup for Friday, April 17
Posted by Bob Payne
"American Idol" Season 7 winner David Cook is preparing to run a 5K for charity in Washington, D.C., on May 3, according to People magazine. The Race for Hope benefits brain-cancer research. Cook's brother Adam has been battling brain cancer for 10 years.
"The opportunity to become involved in such a worthwhile cause is paramount for me and my family. I don't run normally, but it seems a small sacrifice compared to what those who have fought cancer have endured," Cook told People.
• With the theme being disco next week, "Idol" is bringing in some disco icons to perform on Wednesday's results show. Harry Wayne "KC" Casey (of KC and the Sunshine Band), Thelma Houston and Freda Payne will sing a medley of their hits "Get Down Tonight," "Don't Leave Me this Way" and "Band of Gold." And as I've already said, David Archuleta will be performing as well. And he probably won't be singing disco. Just a hunch.
• By now you've seen all the stories about Susan Boyle, the 47-year-old singer on "Britain's Got Talent" who has become an Internet sensation. It got me to thinking about the age limit that "American Idol" puts on people who audition: 28.
I once joked to a brother of mine who's into karaoke that there ought to be an "over the hill" version of "Idol" for singers 40 or older. He actually though it might work. And after seeing Susan's success, I'm beginning to believe he might be right.
What do you think? Would such a show bring an audience (and therefore advertisers?)
