SPOKANE — Katelan Redmon of Spokane scored 24 points and Kayla Standish of Ellensburg had 15 points and 13 rebounds, leading 20th-ranked Gonzaga past San Diego 69-58 Saturday.
Haiden Palmer added 14 points for the Zags (21-3 overall, 10-1 West Coast Conference), all in the second half. Gonzaga takes a six-game winning streak into its matchup at No. 22 Brigham Young on Thursday.
Dominique Conners led San Diego (16-6, 7-3) with 20 points and Izzy Chilcott had 14.
Redmon, who had a mere four points in Thursday's victory over Portland, contributed seven points in a game-breaking 11-5 run late in the second half.
Taelor Karr sparked the burst with assists on three consecutive baskets before Redmon ended it with two free throws. Redmon scored 17 points in the second half.
"I was really proud of our team," Gonzaga coach Kelly Graves said. "That was a hard-fought game. San Diego is in the top 10 in the country in scoring defense.
"I thought in the first half, they dictated the tempo and both teams defended well. But in the second half, we got it out, ran a little bit, got some easy buckets and then a couple of our big-time players stepped up."
Gonzaga put together a couple of short runs to build an 11-point lead in the first half but San Diego had a 9-2 surge to end the half and trailed 25-21.
Standish, Redmon and Palmer combined for 40 of Gonzaga's 44 second-half points.
"I thought Kayla, Katelan and Haiden did a great job in the second half," Graves said. "Haiden was on the bench most of the first half with two fouls and gave us a big lift in the second. She's just gritty and tough."
Baylor romps
MANHATTAN, Kan. — Baylor coach Kim Mulkey has no idea how to stop Brittney Griner. Fortunately for Mulkey, she doesn't have to come up with a scheme to defend the All-American.
Griner had 29 points and the top-ranked Bears kept their perfect season intact with a 70-41 rout of Kansas State.
"I'm glad she's on my team," Mulkey said. "I wouldn't know how to guard her."
Destiny Williams added 14 points and Odyssey Sims finished with 13 for Baylor (23-0, 10-0 Big 12), which extended the best start in school history.
No. 10 Green Bay is the only other NCAA Division I women's program that has yet to lose this season.
Brittany Chambers scored 10 points for Kansas State (15-7, 6-3).
