WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. — Trailing by 25 points at halftime, the Seattle University women's basketball team put a scare into Georgetown in the second half before losing 68-54 in the BTI Classic hosted by Purdue.

Georgetown (2-2) led Seattle University 41-16 at halftime, but Seattle U. (0-4) cut the deficit to 59-52 with 4:40 remaining on a three-pointer by Ashley Brown.

That was as close as Seattle got.

Brown had 13 points to lead the Redhawks.

Seattle U. men play

The Redhawks men return to action at 2 p.m. Sunday against Weber State at KeyArena.

Seattle U. is 1-2 in its first season playing a full Division-I schedule since 1980 after an 85-84 win over Fresno State on Thursday night.

Weber State, which won the Big Sky regular-season title last year, was selected to repeat in a preseason poll of conference coaches, with three starters returning from a team that went 21-10 last season, 15-1 in conference play.

Weber State comes into the game 0-2 having lost to Utah State 66-60 and at UC-Santa Barbara 66-57.
