The Seattle Pacific women's basketball team looks to capitalize on being at home when the NCAA Division II West Regional tournament begins tonight at Brougham Pavilion.
The Falcons (21-4) are top-seeded in the eight-team regional and open against No. 8 seed Grand Canyon (16-11). Seattle Pacific is 10-0 at home. Tonight's game is scheduled to start at 7:30.
Also playing in the regional in Seattle is No. 5 seed Western Washington (19-8), which plays No. 5 Humboldt State at 5:30. No. 2 seed Alaska Anchorage (27-3) plays No. 7 Northwest Nazarene (18-9), and No. 3 UC San Diego (26-4) plays No. 6 Cal State Dominguez Hills.
Seattle Pacific was 29-0 going into the regional final last year but was upset by Great Northwest Athletic Conference rival Alaska Anchorage, 50-44.
The semifinals are Saturday at 5 and 7 p.m., and the final is Sunday at 7 p.m.
The regional winner earns a spot into the final eight, which begins March 24 in San Antonio.
In the men's Division II West Sub-Regional, No. 2 seed Western Washington (21-5) hosts No. 7 seed Seattle Pacific tonight at 7 in Bellingham.
