Pac-10 | Condoleezza Rice is not interested in becoming commissioner

Former Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice was flattered to be approached about the opening, her spokesman says.

Rice was flattered to be approached about the opening, her spokesman says: Condoleezza Rice, former Secretary of State, is a fan, but indicated she is not interested in becoming commissioner of the conference.

Rice was approached about the opening and was flattered by the opportunity, her spokesman, Colby Cooper, said. Cooper said Rice wants to pursue teaching and writing at Stanford. She was a professor and provost at the Pac-10 school before joining the Bush administration.

Pac-10 commissioner Tom Hansen is retiring July 1 after 26 years. The search to find Hansen's successor is being handled by a committee of university presidents.
