PORTLAND — Courtney Vandersloot and Heather Bowman led Gonzaga to a 60-49 victory over Portland on Saturday in the West Coast Conference opener for both teams.
Gonzaga (13-4) has won its last six WCC openers. The Zags have won in their last 16 meetings with Portland (7-8).
Vandersloot, a graduate of Kentwood High School, contributed 19 points, nine assists and seven rebounds.
Bowman, who is from Spokane, finished with 15 points.
Vivian Frieson, a graduate of Garfield High in Seattle, added seven points and a game-high 13 rebounds.
Laiken Dollente of Yakima had 15 points and four steals for Portland.

Renee Montgomery scored 28 points to lead the Huskies (15-0, 2-0 Big East) past the Mountaineers (10-5, 0-3). West Virginia came into the game allowing opponents to score an average of 52 points.
UConn has won each of its games this season by a double-digit margin.
No. 3 Texas A&M 62, at Missouri 56

Danielle Gant scored 22 points, going 10 for 10 from the field, to lead the Aggies (13-1) past the Tigers (9-5) in the Big 12 opener for both teams.
Shakara Jones led Missouri with 14 points.
No. 4 Oklahoma 77, at Nebraska 56
Courtney Paris had 18 points and 20 rebounds to help the Sooners (12-2) beat the Cornhuskers (9-5) in the Big 12 opener for both teams. Paris has an NCAA-record 106 consecutive double-doubles.
Oklahoma has won eight in a row.
No. 6 Baylor 63, at Colorado 50
Danielle Wilson scored 16 points as the Bears (13-1) defeated the Buffaloes (8-5) in the Big 12 opener for both teams.
At Texas Tech 65, No. 8 Texas 62
Dominic Seals, who finished with 16 points, made a short jumper with 7.4 seconds remaining to snap a 62-all tie and help the Raiders (10-4) knock off the Longhorns (12-3) in the Big 12 opener for both teams.
Jordan Murphree scored 19 points for the Raiders.
Brittainey Raven scored 21 points and Kathleen Nash added 20 for Texas.
With the Longhorns down 64-62 and 2.4 seconds left, Nash was called for charging. Texas coach Gail Goestenkors said the call was "extremely unusual" and "extremely frustrating" because Nash didn't have the ball when she was called for the charge.

Nicole Scott scored 20 points as the Eagles (8-9, 3-1 Big Sky) downed the Wildcats (5-10, 0-3), posting their largest margin of victory in a conference road game since winning 77-46 at Portland State in January 2005.
Eastern shot 56 percent from the field.
