RENO, Nev. — Tyler Hansbrough scored 22 points to lead top-ranked North Carolina to an 84-61 victory over Nevada on Wednesday night and keep the Tar Heels undefeated with a school-record 13th straight win by double figures.
Wayne Ellington added 15 points and Ty Lawson had 11 points and seven assists for North Carolina (13-0), which trailed early but put together a 10-1 run midway through the first half capped by Hansbrough's three-pointer to take control of the game.
Freshman Luke Babbitt had 22 points, Armon Johnson 15 and Malik Cooke 13 for Nevada (7-6), which trailed 41-27 at the half and shot only 35 percent from the field for the game.
It marked the seventh straight 20-point game for Hansbrough, North Carolina's career scoring leader who also had three rebounds to move past Brad Daugherty into a tie with Mitch Kupchak for fifth on the school career rebounding list.

No. 3 Pittsburgh 78, at Rutgers 72
Sam Young had 18 points and Brad Wanamaker scored 13 of his career-high 15 in the second half to help the Panthers beat the Scarlet Knights in the Big East opener for both teams.
Pittsburgh (13-0) kept up its best start since going 15-0 in the 2005-06 season.
Mike Rosario had 22 points for Rutgers (9-5).
At No. 5 Duke 92,

Kyle Singler scored 20 points to help the Blue Devils beat the Greyhounds (4-9) despite playing much of the game without starting point guard Nolan Smith.

Gerald Henderson added 19 points for Duke (11-1), which lost Smith midway through the first half to an apparent left-knee injury.
No. 7 Notre Dame 92, at DePaul 82
Luke Harangody scored 26 points and had 16 rebounds and Zach Hillesland scored a career-high 17 to lead the Fighting Irish over the Blue Demons in the Big East opener for both teams.
All five starters finished in double figures in scoring for Notre Dame (10-2).
DePaul (8-6) was led by Mac Koshwal with 26 points and 11 rebounds. Dar Tucker finished with 24 points.
No. 10 Michigan State 70,
at Minnesota 58
Kalin Lucas scored a career-high 24 points, Chris Allen added 13 and the Spartans handed the Gophers their first loss of the season.
In the Big Ten opener for both teams, Michigan State (10-2) wore down Minnesota (12-1) by repeatedly attacking the basket and clogging the lane defensively.
Top 10 women's games
No. 1 Connecticut 78, at Hartford 41
Renee Montgomery scored all of her 20 points in the first half to lead the Huskies (12-0) over in-state rival Hartford (5-7).
Montgomery, who hit 9 of 11 shots, moved past Hartford coach Jen Rizzotti into 12th place on UConn's all-time scoring list with 1,545 points. The Huskies are 24-0 against in-state opponents since Geno Auriemma became coach in 1985.
No. 6 Duke 66, at Providence 49
Chante Black scored 17 points and Abby Waner added 13 as the Blue Devils (11-1) won their ninth straight game, beating the Friars (6-6).

• North Carolina State women's coach Kay Yow missed her third straight game as she battles a recurrence of breast cancer. The Hall of Fame coach, 66, who was first diagnosed with it in 1987, had hoped to be on the bench for her team's 61-58 victory over Georgetown. But she decided about four hours before tipoff that she would be unable to coach.
