Notre Dame quarterback Jimmy Clausen might have to explain his alleged participation in a situation involving alcohol — again.
And at least two other Fighting Irish players might be doing some explaining with him.
Notre Dame will investigate possible school-code violations after the Web site The Big Lead posted photos Monday that appear to depict Clausen, teammates Brian Smith and James Aldridge and one other person attending what the site labeled "Beer Olympics."
The pictures are not dated, and while there is beer on the table in front of the players, the photos do not show them consuming alcohol.
No matter the date of the photos, at least two of the players would not be of legal drinking age. Clausen turns 21 on Sept. 21 and linebacker Smith won't be 21 until 2010. Halfback Aldridge turned 21 on July 6.
The school's guidebook for personal conduct says underage drinking and/or the participation in drinking games is cause for potential disciplinary action.
Clausen was cited in June 2007 for transporting alcohol as a minor.
"I used bad judgment in being in the wrong place at the wrong time, and I've learned from my mistake," Clausen said in August 2007 during his first media appearance after the citation.
Notre Dame plays Washington on Oct. 25 at Husky Stadium.
Kentucky dismisses
quarterback Pulley
LEXINGTON, Ky. — Kentucky quarterback Curtis Pulley was dismissed from the team by coach Rich Brooks for a violation of team rules, a move that makes sophomore Mike Hartline the Wildcats' starting quarterback.

Pulley, a junior, had been competing for the job. He was arrested on traffic charges in Hardin County on July 22 and pleaded guilty to speeding in district court last week. He received a citation for alleged marijuana possession in Louisville in June.
Notes
• Brigham Young center Tom Sorensen is expected to miss the start of the season because of a shoulder injury. Sorenson, who might need surgery, is expected to be out from four to six weeks.
Sorensen, a junior who transferred from Vanderbilt two years ago, was projected to start. Tackle Dallas Reynolds might move to center as Sorensen recovers, coach Bronco Mendenhall said. BYU plays its second game at Washington on Sept. 6.
• Florida State coach Bobby Bowden, 78, whose Seminoles were 7-6 last season, said the team has "got to do better or I'm going to have to get out of here."
Bowden also said, "I always hate to pin myself down. I hate to say if we don't do this, I'm leaving. You know, you hate to say that."
