Former Chief Sealth star Regina Rogers is leaving the UCLA women's basketball team and is considering transferring to Washington, according to a source.
A Huskies spokesman would not comment except to say UW is recruiting Rogers, who is regarded as a recruitable athlete by the NCAA.
The 6-foot-3 Rogers, the daughter of former UW football and basketball star Reggie Rogers, averaged 6.3 points and 4.6 rebounds and started 15 games as a freshman last season. The Bruins finished 16-15 and coach Kathy Olivier resigned after the season.
As a transfer, Rogers would have to sit out the 2008-09 season but would have three years of eligibility left.
Rogers would help fill out the roster depleted by the loss of four transfers after last season, Tia Jackson's first as head coach. Washington added three players in May, including guard Charmaine Barlow of Chief Sealth. Barlow and Rogers were on a Sealth team that finished second in the 2007 Class 3A state tournament.

Maletis, who shot 68 Monday, totaled 142 to edge Keith Crimp of Ellensburg and Sean Monaghan of Tacoma. Match play is today and Friday.
