LUCERNE, Switzerland — Mary Whipple (women's eight) and Scott Gault (men's quadruple sculls), both former Washington Huskies, helped power the U.S. to gold medals Sunday at the 2008 Rowing World Cup in Lucerne, Switzerland.
Other local rowers to medal included Seattle's Lindsay Meyer and Lia Pernell (silver, women's quadruple sculls); former Huskies Brett Newlin and Giuseppe Lanzone (bronze, men's four); and former Husky Anna (Mickelson) Cummins and Seattle's Portia McGee (bronze, women's pair).
Track and field
Mattie Bridgmon (ninth, 5,000 meters), Bonnie Millard (ninth, discus), Amanda Peterson (10th, javelin) and Paul Limpf (10th) finished in the top 10 of their respective events for Eastern Washington on Saturday at the NCAA West Regionals in Northridge, Calif.
