The 16th-ranked Stanford baseball team scored three runs in the eighth inning to complete a comeback and likely end Washington's postseason chances with an 8-5 win Saturday at Husky Ballpark.

The loss dropped the Huskies to 32-22 overall and 10-13 in the Pac-10, with only one regular-season game remaining. The Cardinal clinched no worse than a tie for second place in the conference, improving to 33-20-2 and 14-9.

The Huskies led 4-2 in the eighth when Stanford rallied for its first lead. Cord Phelps and Joey August each had RBI singles, and Brent Milleville's sacrifice fly drove in Phelps to put the Cardinal on top 5-4. Stanford scored three more in the ninth.

Sean Meehan was 2 for 3 with three RBI for the Huskies.

Washington State's Jayson Miller gave up one run in 7-2/3 innings to lead the Cougars (30-25, 8-15 Pac-10) to a 4-2 win over USC in Pullman.

Miller (8-1) scattered 11 hits, walked one and struck out four. Travis Coulter was 2 for 3 with two RBI for the Cougars.
