Recruiting | Franklin's Siva commits to Louisville
Seattle Times staff reporter
Franklin junior Peyton Siva has agreed to accept a basketball scholarship from Louisville.
He's the second Seattle high-school player in four years to choose Louisville. Terrence Williams of Rainier Beach just finished his junior season at there.
Siva is a 6-foot guard who averaged 19.5 points as a junior last season at Franklin. He set a Class 4A state-tournament record with 32 assists in four games this year. He will enroll at Louisville after graduating from Franklin in 2009 and is considered one of the top point guards in the country in his class.
His final considerations for college were Louisville, Arizona, Kansas and Washington. He said he wanted to leave town to go to college, which meant the Huskies were out.
The final choices came down to Louisville and Kansas. He has orally committed to go to Louisville and hasn't signed a letter of intent yet. Siva visited Louisville in February and attended the Cardinals' 59-51 victory over Georgetown.
"The arena was packed," he said. "It was a great environment and so was the campus."
Siva called Louisville coach Rick Pitino on Friday morning to tell him of his decision.
