Senior Cambria Miranda hit her 10th home run of the season in the bottom of the seventh, leading Oregon State to a 3-2 win over No. 24 Washington Thursday in Corvallis, Ore.

Washington (26-22-1, 5-13 in the Pac-10) got seven hits, including two singles by sophomore Amanda Fleischman.

The Huskies scored first when Bailey Stenson came home on Jace Williams' two-out double down the left-field line in the first inning.

Washington tied it at 2 in the second inning thanks to Alicia Blake's two-out RBI single. But the Beavers won in their last at-bats with one out.

Washington freshman Aleah Macon (15-14) was charged with the loss. She struck out three and walked two.

Golf

Sophomore Molly Aronsson and freshman Karinn Dickinson each fired opening-round scores of 3-over 75 to lead the Washington women's team during the first day of the NCAA Central Regional Championship at the University of Texas Golf Club in Austin.

The Huskies, making their 15th NCAA regional appearance in the last 16 years, carded a first-round score of 24-over 312 to end the day in 18th place among 21 teams. Top-seeded UCLA is in the lead after a 5-under 283.

Aronsson and Dickinson are tied for 39th place in medalist play.

Other softball

Sophomore OF Jane Purdy became the Great Northwest Athletic Conference leader in career home runs with her 36th in the first inning, and Seattle University defeated Cal State- Monterey Bay, 4-2, in Arcata, Calif.

The Redhawks stayed alive in the NCAA Division II Softball West Regional.
