Track and field

Heidi Dimmitt's meet record in the women's 400-meter hurdles (1 minute, 1.78 seconds) was the top performance for Western Washington as the Vikings placed third in the men's and women's standings at the GNAC outdoor championships in Ellensburg.

Western Oregon (162 points) edged Seattle Pacific (158) for the women's title, keeping the Falcons from a third straight title. The Wolves (166.5) also won the men's title.

Other individual winners for the Vikings included Erica Rance (discus, 140 feet, 9 inches) and Clara Cook (high jump, 5-4 ¼) on the women's side and Kevin Myhre (400 hurdles, 53.75) and Keefe Brockman (high jump, 6-6) on the men's side.

Central Washington got wins from Tyler Fischer (men's discus, meet-record 169-6) and Shaina Afoa (women's shot put, 42-7 ½), while Seattle Pacific's Jane Larson set a meet record winning the women's 1,500 in 4:29.66.

Rowing

All three Western Washington women's shells advanced to today's grand finals at the Western Intercollegiate Rowing Association Championship Regatta, being held at Lake Natoma in Gold River, Calif.
