DURHAM, N.C. — He makes three-pointers, he drives to the basket, he creates matchup problems all over the court. Kyle Singler is doing just about everything for No. 2 Duke — except playing like a freshman.

Singler scored a season-high 26 points and sparked the decisive run that helped the Blue Devils withstand Maryland's comeback attempt and beat the Terrapins 77-65 on Wednesday night for their 12th consecutive win.

"He can shoot, defend, pass — he's a winner," coach Mike Krzyzewski said. "He's got it all, and it's all just a matter of getting the physical maturity there. He's still a young body, but he's not a young heart, nor a young mind. He's big-time in both those areas."

For Duke (22-1, 10-0 ACC), Singler also established career highs with 10 field goals and six three-pointers.

Indiana couldn't get a break Wednesday. Not from the NCAA, not from Wisconsin, and in some cases, not even from its fans.

Brian Butch's surprise banked three-pointer with 4.5 seconds left ended one of the darkest days in Indiana basketball history.

Less than 12 hours before tipoff, school officials released a report from the NCAA which accused coach Kelvin Sampson of committing five "major" rules violations.

Sampson received a mixed reaction from the crowd when he was introduced before the game.

At S. Ill. 65, No. 14 Drake 62

Randal Falker had 13 points and 10 rebounds and Southern Illinois snapped Drake's 21-game winning streak.

At No. 17 Connecticut 84,

No. 20 Notre Dame 78

A.J. Price scored 26 points and the Huskies (19-5, 8-3 Big East) survived a 32-point, 16-rebound effort from Notre Dame's Luke Harangody. The loss snapped a five-game winning streak for the Irish (18-5, 8-3).

At Texas Tech 84,

No. 18 Kansas St. 75

Alan Voskuil scored a career-high 30 points and Texas Tech beat Kansas State to give Pat Knight his first win since taking over for his father.

Charlotte 60

Xavier's Josh Duncan scored 25, including the clinching three-pointer with 15.9 seconds left.
