CORVALLIS, Ore. — Natasha Vital scored all 17 of her points in the second half to lead No. 9 California to a 56-45 win against Oregon State on Thursday night in a game that the Beavers led 13-11 at halftime.
The Golden Bears survived an 11-point first half to get their 20th win, giving Cal consecutive 20-win seasons for just the second time in school history. The Golden Bears avoided the school record for fewest points in a half by one.
California (20-3 overall, 11-1 Pac-10) scored the first six points of the second half to take a 17-13 lead and never trailed again.
Rama N'diaye's layup with 8:50 remaining capped a 6-0 California run. The Bears later went ahead 43-32 on Ashley Walker's three-point play with 3:39 left.
Oregon State (10-13, 3-9) got as close as six late, but California made 11 of 12 foul shots in the final 1:01.
Stanford 72, Oregon 43
EUGENE, Ore. — Candice Wiggins had 25 points, eight rebounds and four assists, and No. 6 Stanford rode a commanding first half past Oregon.
Kayla Pedersen scored 13 of her 17 points in the first half for the Cardinal (21-3, 10-2), which has won nine in a row.
The 29-point win is Stanford's largest margin of victory in Eugene since 1991. Nicole Canepa had 12 points for Oregon (10-13, 4-8), which shot 32.1 percent.
