MORAGA, Calif. — No. 25 Saint Mary's outlasted Gonzaga 89-85 in overtime Monday night.
Saint Mary's (19-3 overall, 6-1 West Coast Conference), the Zags (17-6, 6-1) and San Diego (13-11, 6-1) are tied for first place in the WCC.
Todd Golden made his sixth three-pointer of the game with 1:19 left in overtime and Patty Mills scored the final 10 points of regulation and five more in OT for Saint Mary's.
Mills finished with 23 points, and Golden had 19 for the Gaels, who beat Gonzaga for the third time in the last four meetings between the teams at McKeon Pavilion.
Gonzaga's Micah Downs, a graduate of Juanita High School in Kirkland, missed a three-point shot that would have tied the score with about five seconds left in overtime. He was 0 for 4 in 16 minutes.
Jeremy Pargo had 27 points, on 11-for-17 shooting, and nine assists for the Zags. Pargo had nine points in OT.
Austin Daye added 15 points for Gonzaga.
"Coming in, we still thought we were the better team," said Zags senior David Pendergraft of Brewster. "This is still our league.
