Men's Top 25 | Hansbrough lifts N. Carolina to OT victory

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. — Florida State made an amazing shot Sunday. North Carolina still had Tyler Hansbrough.

The junior forward had 22 points and a career-high 21 rebounds to help the fourth-ranked Tar Heels outlast the Seminoles 84-73 in overtime.

North Carolina (21-1 overall, 6-1 Atlantic Coast Conference) shook off an unlikely three-pointer by Florida State's Ryan Reid with 8.1 seconds left that sent the game into overtime. Reid admitted he virtually willed the ball into the basket.

"We expected a fight, but we didn't expect it to be that close," said North Carolina's Danny Green, whose three-point play with 2:53 left in OT ignited the 10-2 run that doomed the Seminoles (13-10, 2-6).

When North Carolina couldn't even get a shot off in the final seconds of regulation, the Tar Heels were staring at overtime.

"You can't do anything about that," Tar Heels coach Roy Williams said. "When things aren't pretty, you can still find a way to win."

Florida State's big men seemingly were all in foul trouble from trying to contain the 6-foot-9 Hansbrough.

"He just keeps going, no matter what," Florida State's Uche Echefu said.
