LOS ANGELES — USC's two freshmen were better than UCLA's one.
Rookie Davon Jefferson scored a career-high 25 points, and the more heralded O.J. Mayo added 16 as the Trojans upset the fourth-ranked Bruins 72-63 on Saturday, ending UCLA's nine-game winning streak.
"I didn't know the game was over 'til the game was over," Jefferson said. "That's how crazy this was."
Josh Shipp led the Bruins with 21 points, and freshman Kevin Love had 18 points and 12 rebounds, his ninth double-double in 18 games.
USC won for just the third time in 13 games in Westwood.
"We were way too emotional," said Bruins coach Ben Howland. "We were so caught up and our emotions took over. We made some bad decisions. I can't remember us ever being like that in the last few years."
UCLA (16-2, 4-1 Pac-10) trailed early in the second half, went on a 20-7 run to take a 57-51 lead, then got outscored 21-6 over the final 6:18.
Jefferson scored 11 points in USC's final push, including the last eight. Daniel Hackett had six and Mayo had a dunk.
"We shared the ball," said USC coach Tim Floyd. "Jefferson was terrific. Defensively, we played exceptional."
The Bruins went scoreless over the final 2 minutes, done in by missed shots and turnovers. Love missed a three-pointer with 50 seconds left, and Darren Collison turned the ball over on a bad pass with 38 seconds to go.
The Trojans (11-6, 2-3) came in with less experience, but they lead the Pac-10 in field-goal-percentage defense and held the Bruins to a season-low 33.3 percent shooting.

After missing nine of his first 10 shots, Brook Lopez scored every point during a 10-0 second-half run and helped the Cardinal (15-3, 4-2) hand the Sun Devils their first Pac-10 defeat.
With Jeff Pendergraph on the bench for nearly 10 minutes in foul trouble, the surprising Sun Devils had no answer for Lopez in the paint and saw the 7-footer almost single-handedly end their 10-game winning streak.
"I had to get back in the game. I was playing soft and Pendergraph was getting the better of me," Lopez said. "I had to attack the glass and get more physical."
Lopez finished with 19 points and a career-high 16 rebounds — 14 in the final 20 minutes.
James Harden scored 16 points for the Sun Devils (14-3, 4-1).
Arizona 79, at Cal 75
Jerryd Bayless scored 24 points and made four free throws in the final nine seconds as the Wildcats (12-6, 2-3 Pac-10) rallied to beat the Bears for the 17th time in the teams' last 19 meetings.
California (11-6, 2-4) outshot and outrebounded Arizona, but the Wildcats made a season-high 11 three-pointers, four each from Chase Budinger and Nic Wise.
Ryan Anderson scored 30 points for Cal (11-6, 2-4 Pac-10), which lost for the fourth time in five games.
