Friday, January 27, 2006 - Page updated at 12:00 AM Report says Kansas dropout Downs could land at GonzagaSeattle Times staff Indications were increasing Thursday that former Juanita High School basketball star Micah Downs would transfer to Gonzaga, but nothing was confirmed by school officials. A Gonzaga spokesman said Downs was not enrolled in the Spokane school despite a Kansas radio report. Gonzaga does not have an open scholarship, but Downs could initially walk on. The Gonzaga spokesman said there was still time for the 6-foot-8 forward to enroll at Gonzaga and be eligible to play next winter. Gonzaga added one transfer already last week in 6-10 center David Burgess of Irvine, Calif., who played in just five games the past two years at Brigham Young while battling ankle injuries. Downs left Kansas earlier this week, and sources told The Seattle Times that Gonzaga might be one of his destinations. Downs played sparingly at Kansas but said he was leaving for "personal" reasons.
