Heaton, a two-time All-American in the event, completed a vault at 11 feet, 8 inches, then missed her final jump at what would have been a school-record height of 12-2. Whitworth senior Leslie Nelson finished sixth in the 10,000-meter run, posting a time of 37:26.53 in stormy conditions. Seattle Pacific's Karen Dickson finished 12th. The duo has advanced to the finals; if they finish in the top four, they make the Olympic team. Seattle's Lianne Nelson and partner Caryn Davies finished second in their opening heat of the women's pairs and will attempt to qualify for the finals through the repechage round today. Notes
