President Obama has issued a disaster declaration for storm damage in western Alaska.

The declaration makes federal funds available for communities after storms battered the western coast in early November. More than 35 communities were affected.

The Federal Emergency Management Agency says the funding is available to the state and eligible local and tribal governments - along with some nonprofit organizations - to repair or replace damaged buildings from the storms and flooding.
