Pacific Bioscience Laboratories, the Redmond-based developer of the Clarisonic skin-care devices, has agreed to be acquired by cosmetics giant L'Oréal USA for an undisclosed amount, the companies said Thursday.
The acquisition is expected to close this December.
Founded in 2001, Pacific Bioscience in 2004 introduced its Clarisonic devices, which use oscillating brushes to cleanse the skin.
The company reported $105 million in sales last year. It has 300 employees.
David Giuliani, co-founder and CEO of Pacific Bioscience, previously co-founded Optiva, which developed the Sonicare toothbrush.
The companies said the senior management team will remain after the acquisition, and L'Oréal will keep the Redmond location.
"This is a strategic acquisition for L'Oréal," said Frédéric Rozé, president and CEO of L'Oréal USA. "We think that together with (Pacific Bioscience), we will create in Redmond an outstanding center of innovation for L'Oréal."
