Karen Thomas was named managing director of the Seattle office of Gensler, a global design, planning and strategic consulting firm.
Thomas most recently served as deputy director at the Henry Art Gallery at the University of Washington. She also teaches at the UW's College of Built Environments.
In 2001, she founded her own architecture and interiors-practice firm in Seattle, Thomas & Thomas.
Banking: Sam Henry was named vice president, regional team lead and senior business loan officer at HomeStreet Bank's Bellevue Lending Center.
Conservation: Michael Woodsum was hired as director of development at the Mountains to Sound Greenway Trust, Seattle.
Consulting: Tom Petry joined Gallagher Benefit Services in Bellevue as associate client consultant.
Development: Dan Matheson was named senior development manager at Skanska USA Commercial Development, Seattle.
Health care: Dr. Van Ginger joined The Polyclinic in Seattle.
Law: Brian Keeley joined Schawabe, Williamson & Wyatt in Seattle. Kate Kennedy joined Oles Morrison Rinker & Baker in Seattle.
Medical devices: Rob Weyer was named vice president of research and technology development at Physio-Control, Redmond.
Security: Skip Keeley was hired as general manager of Devcon Security's Seattle branch.
Youth services: Monica Elenbaas was named director of fund development and community relations at Youth Eastside Services, Bellevue.
