Developers planning a high-rise residential and office complex in part of CenturyLink Field's north parking lot officially acquired the 3.85-acre property Monday.
King County transferred the site, just south of South King Street, to North Lot Development, a partnership of Daniels Real Estate and R.D. Merrill, according to public records. The county agreed in 2007 to sell the property to North Lot for $10 million.
County and city officials have viewed the site as a potential catalyst for revitalizing Pioneer Square for more than a decade.
The developers plan to break ground this week on the project's first phase — 444 apartments in 10- and 25-story towers, plus retail and parking. The final obstacle, a last-minute dispute over replacement stadium parking, was resolved last week.
