Radiant Imaging merging with Zemax Development on Eastside

Looking to expand their businesses, two Eastside companies working with optical and display technologies are merging under a deal financed by a Seattle private equity company.

Radiant Imaging, a Redmond company that develops test and measurement systems for light and color, including the burgeoning LED market, is combining forces with Zemax Development, a Bellevue software maker whose platform helps optical engineers design and develop applications. The merger is backed by Evergreen Pacific Partners, which has offices in Seattle and Los Angeles. Terms were not disclosed.

Paul Caragher, formerly president of Tektronix Service Solutions, has been appointed chief executive of the combined companies.

For now, Radiant and Zemax will operate under their respective names and will work out of Redmond.

"We will be able to grow faster and go farther together," Ron Rykowski, founder and CEO of Radiant, said in a statement. Founders of the two companies will continue in executive leadership and product development positions, the statement said.
