The finished but empty 28-story West 8th office tower has landed its first tenants — two nonprofits that will occupy one quarter of the building.

Casey Family Programs and Seattle Children's Research Institute have leased 125,000 square feet of space in the 500,000-square-foot building at Eighth Avenue and Westlake Avenue, developer Touchstone announced.

The building was completed last year.

Casey Family Programs, which employs more than 200 locally, will move its headquarters by next January into 75,000 square feet of space on the building's top floors. Seattle Children's Research Institute, already in several buildings in the Denny Triangle neighborhood, will move about 250 researchers and research-support staff to West 8th from the Metropolitan Park West Campus late this year.
