Iraq orders 10 Boeing 787s

The government of Iraq ordered 10 Boeing Dreamliners at the end of last year.

The government of Iraq ordered 10 Boeing Dreamliners at the end of last year.

The order is worth about $1.7 billion at list prices. Allowing for standard market discounts estimated by aircraft valuation firm Avitas, the actual purchase price is about $1.1 billion.

In a move spotted by aviation blogger Uresh Sheth, Boeing identified the previously booked order when it updated its online jet order database last week.

The order is the second major Boeing sale to the Iraqi government since the fall of Saddam Hussein.

In 2008, Iraq ordered 30 single-aisle 737s, worth $2.3 billion at list prices or an Avitas-estimated actual price of about $1.4 billion.
