Boeing said Thursday it will base its bid for the Air Force tanker contract on the Everett-built 767, with improvements including digital displays adapted from the 787 Dreamliner.

Dennis Muilenburg, president and CEO of Boeing Defense, Space & Security, termed it the Boeing "NewGen Tanker," saying other advanced systems will include "a new-generation fly-by-wire boom" to improve fueling speed and increase reliability, and control systems that offer the air crew increased maneuverability in combat situations.
