19 biorefinery plants to be built in 15 states

The U.S. Department of Energy announced Friday it will spend $564 million to speed up construction of 19 biorefineries that will turn agriculture and forest waste into diesel fuel. The list of projects:

- Amyris Biotechnologies Inc., Emeryville, Calif.

- Archer Daniels Midland, Decatur, Ill.

- Bluefire LLC, Fulton, Miss.

- BioEnergy International LLC, Lake Providence, La.

- Clearfuels Technology Inc., Commerce City, Colo.

- Elevance Renewable Sciences, Newton, Iowa.

- Enerkem Corp., Pontotoc, Miss.

- Gas Technology Institute, Des Plaines, Ill.

- Haldor Topsoe Inc., Des Plaines, Ill.

- ICM Inc., St. Joseph, Mo.

- INEOS New Planet BioEnergy LLC, Vero Beach, Fla.

- Logos Technologies, Visalia, Calif.

- Renewable Energy Institute International, Toledo, Ohio.

- Sapphire Energy Inc., Columbus, N.M.
