Flowers Foods names Allen L. Shiver president

Bakery goods company Flowers Foods Inc. on Friday said its board elected Allen L. Shiver president, effective Jan. 1.

THOMASVILLE, Ga. —

Bakery goods company Flowers Foods Inc. on Friday said its board elected Allen L. Shiver president, effective Jan. 1.

George E. Deese, Flowers Foods' chairman of the board, CEO, and president, will continue to serve as chairman of the board and CEO.

Shiver, 54, has 30 years of experience at Flowers, where he served as executive vice president and chief marketing officer.

Shiver is an American Bakers Association board member and serves on the ABA's executive committee.

Shares of Flowers rose 9 cents to $23.11.
