Md. gov announces biopharmaceutical firm's growth

Maryland's governor says a biopharmaceutical company is building a bioprocessing center in east Baltimore.

The Associated Press

ANNAPOLIS, Md. —

Maryland's governor says a biopharmaceutical company is building a bioprocessing center in east Baltimore.

Emergent BioSolutions Inc., which manufactures vaccines, is expected to create 125 jobs in five years after it completes a 60,000-square-foot bioprocessing center.

Gov. Martin O'Malley says Maryland is a global hub for the life sciences industry because of its federal facilities, quality public schools and talented work force. He said those factors will help Maryland get through the recession more quickly than other states.

The governor made the announcement in his weekly, online economic update.
