WASHINGTON —

The U.S. Travel Association spent $270,000 in the third quarter to lobby on visa issues, airport operations and other matters, according to a disclosure report.

The trade group that represents airlines, hotels and others also lobbied on issues such as the response to the swine flu, which hurt airline travel to Latin America earlier this year.

Other lobbying issues in the July-September period included: legislation related to the Transportation Security Administration, travel documents, border enforcement, Federal Aviation Administration funding, and registered traveler programs.

The group also lobbied on money for high-speed rail. Airlines have generally viewed high-speed rail as a competitor.

According to the Oct. 20 filing with the House clerk's office, the group lobbied Congress, the departments of Transportation, Commerce and State, the FAA and others.
