Everett-based retailer Zumiez reported an 8.9 percent decline in same-store sales for October, a worse drop than Wall Street expected.
Same-store sales are considered a key measure of performance because they exclude newly opened stores.
Analysts had been expecting a 6.7 percent drop in monthly same-store sales.
Zumiez had total October sales of $24.7 million, down 1.5 percent from a year ago.
The company saw same-store sales fall across all product categories except shoes, Chief Financial Officer Trevor Lang said in a prerecorded call.
The results were released after the market closed Wednesday. Zumiez stock closed Wednesday up 13 cents at $13.46.
Zumiez, which sells clothes, shoes and equipment aimed at board-sports enthusiasts, operates 378 stores.
