Grants available for Vermont specialty crops
Producers of Vermont's "specialty crops" - including fruits, vegetables and maple products - could be in line for more than $200,000 in grants made available through last year's federal Farm Bill.

Producers of Vermont's "specialty crops" - including fruits, vegetables and maple products - could be in line for more than $200,000 in grants made available through last year's federal Farm Bill.
State Agriculture Secretary Roger Allbee says the Specialty Crop Block Grant money is aimed at enhancing the competitiveness of Vermont crops, also including honey, horticultural crops, tree nuts, dried fruits and nursery crops.
The money will go to associations and groups representing individual growers and producers for use with distribution, marketing, crop research and food safety initiatives.
Nationally, the program has awarded 55 grants totaling approximately $49 million for 745 projects.
