Humana covering swine flu vaccine costs

Health insurer Humana Inc. said Tuesday it will cover 100 percent of the costs of the swine flu vaccine for fully insured members, including those who don't have a plan with immunization coverage.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. —

Health insurer Humana Inc. said Tuesday it will cover 100 percent of the costs of the swine flu vaccine for fully insured members, including those who don't have a plan with immunization coverage.

The company said all co-payment, coinsurance and deductibles will be waived for the administration of the H1N1 vaccination.

The company did not say how much it expects to spend on the initiative. Representatives could not immediately be reached.

Humana has approximately 10.3 million medical members and 6.8 million specialty-benefit members.

Shares of Humana rose 98 cents, or 2.6 percent, to $38.11 in afternoon trading. The stock has traded between $18.57 and $46.01 over the last 52 weeks.
