Analysis |

The second quarter was good for stock investors worldwide. Markets in most big economies rose even though economic forecasts for some countries actually got worse.

And just as in the first quarter, emerging markets rose faster than developed ones.

Rising prices for oil and other goods mean growth and rising markets for big commodity exporters like Russia and Brazil.

The International Monetary Fund expects emerging markets to grow 1.6 percent in 2009. That's slower than their 6.5 percent annual growth rate since 2001, but better than the outlook for developed regions.
