Bellevue OKs master plan for 500-unit Overlake development

Bellevue officials have approved the master plan for Bel-Green, a four-building, 500-unit development in the city's Overlake area.

Seattle Times business reporter

Bellevue officials have approved the master plan for a four-building, 500-unit development in the city's Overlake area.

The project, called Bel-Green, is between Northeast Bel-Red Road and 156th Avenue Northeast south of Northeast 24th Street. Angelo's Nursery occupied the 4.3-acre site until 2007.

The master plan envisions senior housing and hotels or apartments, built in phases. But more permits are required before construction can start, and Chris Mooi, development director for developer Crescent View Investments of Vancouver, B.C., said it's not clear when applications will be filed.

"We started this process two years ago," he said. "As you can imagine, the world has changed."

Zoning allows buildings up to 60 feet tall, Mooi said. Preliminary plans call for senior housing to be built first.
