Premera Blue Cross let go about 95 employees this month as part of an ongoing effort to cut costs, a spokesman confirmed today.

The Mountlake Terrace-based health insurance company employs about 2,500 at its headquarters, and has additional Washington offices in Seattle and Spokane. With operations in Oregon and Alaska, its total staff is about 3,200.

Spokesman Eric Earling said he didn't have any details on the location or functions of the laid-off employees.
