A 17-year-old boy was booked into juvenile detention on suspicion of first-degree murder Sunday night after his 87-year-old neighbor was found dead inside her home, the Kitsap County Sheriff's Office said.
MANCHESTER, Kitsap County — A 17-year-old boy was booked into juvenile detention on suspicion of first-degree murder Sunday night after his 87-year-old neighbor was found dead inside her home, the Kitsap County Sheriff's Office said.
Ruby Andrews' body was discovered in the late afternoon, by her husband, Earl Andrews, and their adult son, said sheriff's office spokesman Deputy Scott Wilson. They called 911 about 4:45 p.m. The cause of death was not released.
Wilson said the couple's car and a .38 caliber revolver were taken from the house.
Within a few hours, the young man and one of his relatives were seen on the street, in a different vehicle. After questioning by law-enforcement officials, the boy was taken into custody.
The car, with a gun inside, was found a few miles away in a pizza-shop parking lot.
