Uwajimaya signed an agreement today to create its fourth store, which will open this summer in Renton, CEO Tomoko Moriguchi-Matsuno said in a widespread e-mail.

It will open in the old Renton Village Thriftway at 501 South Grady Way, which has been liquidating its stock to make way for the popular Asian grocery chain.

"The Team plans on keeping the best of Uwajimaya and also adding many new concepts to our already innovative lineup of retail. We have 90 days to accomplish this goal," Moriguchi-Matsuno wrote.

When she became CEO in 2007, Moriguchi-Matsuno said she wanted to double Uwajimaya's number of stores in the next five years.

"We're going to grow like crazy," she said.

The chain has a flagship store in Seattle's International District, plus stores in Bellevue and Beaverton, Ore.
