Bombardier wins second order for CSeries aircraft

Canada's Bombardier today grabbed its second firm order for the proposed new CSeries aircraft family that will compete with Boeing's smaller jets.

Canada's Bombardier today grabbed its second firm order for the proposed new CSeries aircraft family that will compete with Boeing's smaller jets.

Lease Corporation International (LCI), a private lessor headquartered in Dublin, Ireland, ordered three 110-seat CS100s and 17 of the 130-seat CS300 airplanes with options for another 20.

The firm order for 20 is worth $1.44 billion at list prices, though as an early customer LCI would have received a significant discount.

The order brings the CSeries firm-order tally to 50.

Earlier this month, Lufthansa signed up for 30 CS100s to be delivered starting in 2014. The LCI deliveries also won't start until 2014, which leaves Bombardier still searching for a customer to take the first CSeries jets scheduled to come off the Montreal final assembly line in 2013.
