SPEEA accepts Boeing Wichita contract

The white-collar union representing 688 Boeing engineers in Wichita, Kan., today accepted the company's terms for a new contract.

The white-collar union representing 688 Boeing engineers in Wichita, Kan., today accepted the company's terms for a new contract.

In a vote earlier this month, members of the Society of Professional Engineering Employees in Aerospace (SPEEA) had for a second time rejected the terms offered. However, they also ruled out a strike to try to force Boeing to offer more.

In talks following that vote, Boeing refused to budge on the contract offer.

In a statement, the union said it made the "difficult decision" reluctantly after the negotiating team concluded there was "no desire from Boeing to move from its hard-liner stance."
