PYCO Oil Mill has laid off 30 workers amid a continued decline in cotton production in the Delta.

GREENWOOD, Miss. —

PYCO Oil Mill has laid off 30 workers amid a continued decline in cotton production in the Delta.

PYCO's main product in Greenwood is processed cotton seed oil, a byproduct of cotton farming.

In January, PYCO had 59 workers.

John Stewart, PYCO's mid-south manager, said the company is attempting to run another product through the Greenwood plant that won't require as many employees as cotton seed. He declined to identify the product.
