Starting Sunday, Westfield Southcenter in Tukwila will open 30 minutes later and close 30 minutes earlier Monday through Friday.

Australia-based Westfield Group, one of the world's largest shopping-center owners, says it's scaling back operating hours at most of its U.S. malls to help stores cut costs amid the worst recession in decades.

The Southcenter mall will open at 10:30 a.m. and close at 9 p.m. Monday through Friday, beginning next week. Also, the mall will close a half-hour earlier Saturdays and a full hour earlier Sundays, at 9 p.m. and 6 p.m., respectively. Weekend opening hours remain at 10 a.m. Saturdays and 11 a.m. Sundays.
