Intermec to cut 150 jobs, 7% of work force

Intermec (IN), the Everett manufacturer of data-tracking technologies, said it will cut 150 jobs, saving up to $16 million a year.

Intermec said today that it would cut 150 jobs, or 7 percent of its global work force, mainly in selling, general and administrative areas, as it responds to the global economic meltdown. The Everett company said the job cuts will save up to $16 million a year.

Intermec, a manufacturer of data-tracking technologies, also said it expects its fourth-quarter revenue to be in the lower half of its previously forecast range of $220 million to $230 million. It will report its full financial results Feb. 5.

Intermec had announced in July that it would eliminate 260 jobs, 180 of them local, as it outsourced assembly work to Southeast Asia and restructured service operations.
