Boeing lines will keep working through year-end
Boeing says absenteeism is high because of the snow-bound road conditions, but the company has enough people at work to keep aircraft production moving.
Seattle Times aerospace reporter
Boeing spokesman Jim Proulx said Friday that although absenteeism is high because of the snow-bound road conditions, the company has enough people at work to keep aircraft production moving.
The jet maker usually shuts down for the holidays between Christmas Eve and New Year's Day. But this year, following the two-month stoppage due to the Machinist strike, it intends to have a minimum number of workers in the plants for all three shifts to ensure delivery committments, said Proulx.
"We'll try to keep holiday overtime to a minimum," Proulx said.
