Washington Mutual will lay off an undisclosed number of employees effective Jan. 31, according to a notice the company filed with the state's Employment Security Department.

WaMu's new owner, JPMorgan Chase, has said it will notify workers about layoffs by Dec. 1. Some Seattle employees have been told already that their jobs are disappearing or moving to other cities.
