Appointments, promotions and awards in the business community.
Seattle area
Accounting: Jon Martin was named senior tax manager, Roen Ako was hired as tax senior and Dennis Foo, Kimberly Albers and Nancy Rizzo as tax associates at Newman Dierst Hales.
Banking: Ben Prince was appointed Premier Banking & Investments Pacific Northwest division executive at Bank of America.
Hospitality: Melisa Decker was named area director of sales and marketing for Hotel Services Group.
Investment: Edward Whatley Jr. was appointed a senior vice president at Evergreen Pacific Partners.
Law: Emilia Sweeney joined Carney Badley Spellman. Irwin Treiger joined Stoel Rives. Haeryung Shin joined Davis Wright Tremaine. Allen Baden joined K&L Gates as a partner.
Technology: Jay Emmet was appointed general manager of OpenMarket. John Kim was appointed Whrrl's vice president, advertising products, at Pelago. Russ Aldrich was named chief executive at QL2.
Eastside
Banking: Chad Leesburg was named assistant vice president, commercial lending, and Helena Chu joined the personal banking team at Eastside Commercial Bank, Bellevue.
Investment: Doug Roether was named a vice president, financial consultant, at D.A. Davidson's Redmond branch office.
Software: Brad Callahan was appointed vice president of Microsoft Services, North America, at Microsoft, Redmond.
Technology: Stephen Wu was hired as vice president of sales and business development at GotVoice, Kirkland.
